What is the best time to take esomeprazole Nexium?

Nexium is taken with or without a meal. Food intake can delay or reduce the gastric absorption of esomeprazole, but this does not affect its effectiveness. Taking it in the morning or evening depends on when symptoms occur: in the morning if symptoms are more prevalent during the day, or in the evening if they occur primarily at night.

The tablets should be swallowed whole with a drink, without being crushed or chewed. In some cases, the tablets can be scattered in half a glass of still water, which should be drunk immediately or within 30 minutes without crushing the granules.
